Striving for Excellence!
March signals the beginning of a new season and with each day we see the signs of change.  Change sparks different feelings and emotions for each of us. Sometimes we meet change with anxiety, sometimes resistance and uncertainty. But what we all realize is that change is inevitable and must be faced with determination and courage to make the most of what comes our way. Change requires action. Our motto is a call to action – “striving” means making great efforts.
Our schools are constantly evolving and changing in order to meet the needs of our students and it takes the village in our case the town of Blackville to help us raise and elevate our students to new heights. Now is the time to focus on a season of change and a time of hope. We are hopeful that as we prepare to celebrate a successful year (3 months left) results will show that we have excelled and exceeded expectations. We need the continuous support from all stakeholders and decision makers locally and nationally to provide adequate funding and resources for our schools and our students.
We welcome the input of community members, civic groups and organizations. Thanks to the change agents who made the choice to help us move forward  . . .

Blackville Civic Club for including our student council members in their meetings and partnering with the 21st Century Afterschool Program to have a mural painted in the cafeteria by Russ Petty. This project was also supported by the Barnwell Arts Council.
Parents and Leaders United for Success (PLUS) Committee for providing input (during monthly meetings) from the community directly to the District.

Blackville Downtown Development Association (BDDA) and Community Development Cooperation (CDC) for taking on projects to improve the quality of life for everyone.
Blackville-Hilda Golf Foundation (established in December 2010) for their attention to the work required in reopening the golf course and improving the Country Club so the community and our students will have an outlet (particularly golf) for recreation.
Mayor Michael Beasley and Town Council for continuing the tradition of supporting the schools in so many ways. Thanks for the special recognition n January!
Parents, Community members, students, and all staff members for working as a united team to make Blackville- Hilda Public Schools the best!
Most of all our dynamic School Board Members who ensure that policies and procedures are in place to govern our work and accomplish our mission of educating our youth so that they may become successful and productive citizens.
We must all make the choice to be the change we want to see in the world, in our community and in our schools - realizing that choice, not chance determines destiny.
